What are your daily responsibilities?
Track well performance, compile production data, calculate op cost, calculate downhole well pressures, present data weekly to the team.
What were some projects you were involved in?
Long range planning, forecasting short and long term production, created tool to analyze op cost more in depth.
What were strong points of your interview? Did grades matter?
Entire interview was about teamwork. Strong points included examples from the Team Strats project in 3rd year. An strong example of setting a goal and taking steps to achieve it also made a difference. Grades did not come up but I don't know how much they helped in getting the interview in the first place.
Which skill sets/courses were most relevant to your position?
General Excel skills are used all the time. VBA programming is the most beneficial skill. Some fluid mechanics knowledge is useful too.
What did your company expect from you as a 2nd/3rd year co-op student?
Not a whole lot. Show up on time, keep up with the daily work, help your fellow coop students when necessary.
Did you like your overall PEY experience? Why or why not?
No. The work was not interesting and I felt that I did not learn much at all past the first 2 months. The job is very routine and repetitive.
One fun fact about your job?
Fantastic coffee machine.
