What are your daily responsibilities?
Plant Process Monitoring; Lab & Field Sample Collecting; Process Trending & Correlations; General Troubleshooting
What were some projects you were involved in?
- Created fuel gas prediction model for the Upgrader - Prepared documentations for major maintenance of sulphur recovery units - Assisted in ensuring integrity of safe operating limits of process equipments
What were strong points of your interview? Did grades matter?
- Relating my school & extracurricular experiences to my ability to contribute in that position. - Grades are important but certainly would not be considered to be a dealbreaker, in my opinion.
Which skill sets/courses were most relevant to your position?
Analytical skills, Excel and statistics.
What did your company expect from you as a 2nd/3rd year co-op student?
Basic P&ID reading and Excel work. Many of the skills needed you'll pick up as you go. For other skills, there's ample training provided.
Did you like your overall PEY experience? Why or why not?
Yes, it was a good learning experience indeed. The work done here is very relevant to things taught in school. That, along with the industrial experience and exposure to a broad professional network makes this experience highly enjoyable / valuable!

H2S is your worst enemy!
