What are your daily responsibilities?
Scheduling and monitoring of production for the lab color concentrates line to ensure timely completion of customer orders. Conducting quality control and composition testing of pigments and customer resins. Providing support to product development team through plastic chip/film production and other administrative assistance as required by demand.
What were some projects you were involved in?
Designing an improved exhaust collection system for a production line. Expanding the colorants database for an experimental spectrophotometer.
What were strong points of your interview? Did grades matter?
Grades did not really matter. It was more about your style and confidence. Also, need to be able to distinguish colors.
Which skill sets/courses were most relevant to your position?
Time management and multi-tasking abilities were important. The ability to interact with people tactfully and professionally from various departments was also key.
What did your company expect from you as a 2nd/3rd year co-op student?
Nothing too technical. Mostly, the ability to pace yourself and complete work requirements.
Did you like your overall PEY experience? Why or why not?
Yes, my experiences at the company were enjoyable. I learned more about myself and improved my team-work and communication skills.
One fun fact about your job?
Monthly Chinese-Hakka lunches.
